Moo_Duk_Kwan_Fist_Ahlers_trans-est-798x798-8Moo Duk Kwan® teaching program certification (Certified Teaching Program - CTP) is available for applicants who desire to
conduct a program teaching the Soo Bahk Do® martial art at their workplace, church, local recreation center, rented facility, etc.

my-goals-square-600x600-8A good early step is to review your personal goals and consider which of the seven common lifestyles of Soo Bahk Do® instructors appeals to you.

Next it is prudent to evaluate your business preparedness to operate a business because entrepreneurial knowledge and business skills that you never learned as a practitioner will now be needed to run a school business.

Typically, the goals of a Certified Teaching Program Leader (CTP) differ from the goals of many Certified School Owners.

Often a principal difference is the degree of investment, ownership and responsibility that the applicant plans to undertake in growing the student enrollment in the program and in the amount of time, energy and money that the applicant plans to invest in the recruitment of new students, training and retaining students all year round.

Certified Teaching Program Leaders often depend on the existing traffic through the facility where they plan to teach (rec center, gym, dance school, etc.) to generate new students and often have smaller enrollment; however, some rec center programs, etc. have large enrollments.

Certified School Owners typically exercise more ownership and responsibility for the job of marketing and recruiting new student prospects for their school year round and as a result tend to have larger enrollment; however, some have small enrollment.

The amount of time, energy and money you plan to invest in your endeavor and the anticipated size of your student body enrollment also informs the business decision about whether to operate part-time or full time and whether to operate as a "hobby" or a "business."

These decisions have consequences at tax time as the Internal Revenue Service considers your "intent" in determining how your undertaking will be taxed, so careful consideration is prudent before you get started.

Being an excellent practitioner does not automatically mean you have the entrepreneurial knowledge or business acumen to run a business, so unless you already have life experience in business you will need to acquire some new business knowledge and skills to effectively manage your teaching activity so that it can be as rewarding and long-lived as possible.

The application process to become a licensed Certified Teaching Program is very similar to the application process to become a Certified School but the fee structure is reduced, benefits of the Moo Duk Kwan® teaching  program certification are less than a Moo Duk Kwan® school certification and a degree of latitude may be allowed on some requirements when inspected by Regional Examiners.

Certified Kyo Sa or Sa Bom qualify to run a licensed teaching program, but applicants lacking either of these Moo Duk Kwan® Instructor Certifications will need to secure the support of a Moo Duk Kwan® Certified Kyo Sa or Sa Bom Instructor or Regional Examiner who agrees to oversee their activity until such time as the applicant becomes at least a Certified Kyo Sa.

Applicants lacking Kyo Sa or Sa Bom Moo Duk Kwan® Instructor Certification must also agree to acquire a Kyo Sa or Sa Bom Instructor Certification Study Kit and enter into an Instructor Apprenticeship program within a short period of time from the application date.

The S.T.A.R.T. Program Guide provides some very useful insights and includes the application forms that you will need to file.

The application process for seeking Moo Duk Kwan® Teaching Program Certification (CTP ~ START program) is detailed in the kit provided below.

Once you have read through it and contemplated your personal goals for your endeavor and your business preparedness to operate a school, then complete and submit the following to Headquarters:
