Yes, you do.  Sam Dans need to have acquired a Kyo Bom Certification Study Kit  (or completed Jo Kyo and Kyo Sa Certification) during the 4 years from your Sam Dan exam to your 4th Dan exam or earlier.  You may acquire the Kyo Bom Certification Study Kit for $297 and will exit a successful exam as a Kyo Bom Red.

As a point of clarification, for those intending to test in 2019, the 12 month apprenticeship will be waived as the Kyo Bom workbook will be available in January 2019 (less than 12 months in advance of the test).  In 2020 and beyond the Kyo Bom workbook will be required to acquire no less than 12 months in advance.
